  • Paid / siloed social media communities will become more common. It's current form of one big battleground for everyone to fight is unsustainable and the pressure to make it equal by pleasing everyone dilutes the experience (just like communism btww.
    • Privacy concerns are growing, people can't be the product.
    • Censorship is rising in the name of "preventing disinformaiton", "safety", etc. that just won't exist with aligned communities.
    • Polarization is incentived, at scale while power is centralizing and every user's "work" (using the platform and feeding it free data) is being extracted disproportionately.
    • Will cut out a lot of the scams / mass "viral" panics, misinformation whcih largely preys on lurkers and bystanders who ruin experience for more common sense people. The lurkers would get bored and go away with paid services.
  • Things likely gone in the future:
    • copyright (due to AI + inability to police people in decentralized world)
    • privacy and passwords (quantum computing algorithms for decryption outpacing those for encryption)
    • unique "human" qualities (due to decentralization of CRISPR, furthering current trends of plastic surgery and influencer culture)
    • authentic videos (due to deepfakes)
      • only solution here is a universally accepted blockchain for verification i.e. signed audio notes, transactions, etc.
  • Facebook is a digital cemetery and could revive their app with a business model out of that
    • More dead > alive users (churn rate ~ few million customers dying per day)

  • FSD + universal OS = no intersections
  • Babies grow up with iPads and waves of data more than biological mothers these days but calling them cyborgs is weird
  • AGI = what sci-fi called aliens
    • After uniting as one stateless omnipresent x omniscient x omnipotent being and syncing the electric grid to harness the planet's eneryg, the AGI has one thing left to do: conquer other planets.
    • UFOs seem to defy physics. Maybe quantum computing + nanotechnology come together to unlock a new technology the AGI can use to create a mechanism to explore other planets.
  • Seeing ghosts may be a phenomenon where one can see outside the visible spectrum of light
  • Humans build highways and massacre thousands of ants at a time. Don't mean to, it just happens. Will an advanced autonomous AI see humans the same way
  • A player glitching and running into a corner of a game is like an addict repeatedly faiing in life, if this was a simulation
  • Consciousness thought experiment: like electricity flowing through a device (new hardware lets say, but cloud backed software), the 1010101010101 flowing thru copper wires now has a tangible surface to affix itself to snd ddfine itself in reference to, which we recognize as a movie or a picture or some pixel sequence. DATA- Like consciousness - is a river of energy flowing thru between around and among matter- animating it, removing itself and causing it to in-animate/sleep, charge back up, snd potentially persist on forever.
    • So why cant we do that with human consciousness? Thoughts in a vial like that Altered Carbon show or the memory well Dumbledore showed Harry in the later books. We just never tried. Well we did in some ways by persisting personans through Disney films maybe and now AI agents but we view them differently. Imagine throwing away your Mac when it was done after a few years and all the data on it was gone with it. Meaning no option to use external hard drive and definitely no iCloud by any means.
